Beta Readers--get ready

If you're one of my beta readers, or want to be one (msg me), The Last Dragon is done. Get ready because in a week or so, I'll send you the revised manuscript for your excellent input. The new cover is finished (version 10) and really nice. We've been issuing new covers for nine other of my books, and all look so much better! The Mage's Daughter is going to be on Audible, maybe the entire series.

Two More Books

I found myself in an odd situation this week. While working on Cold Knights, the plot was becoming predictable. While thinking of a possible way to resolve the issue, I worked on The Last Dragon and came up with several unique ideas to follow for it. At the same time, I resolved the plot issue with Cold Knights and wanted to get it onto "paper" before I forgot. So, I wrote a chapter of one book, then switched to the other. Then back again. For about three days I entered one world of place and characters, and wrote with one voice, then changed to another world and writing style a few hours later. I honestly expected to confuse a place or character--and didn't. Then I wondered why. Writing for me, is a process where I have to engross myself totally in the story. I can see, hear, touch, taste. If my character is in snow I need another shirt and maybe turn the heat up. I have to speak with my characters, and often say their words out loud to make sure they are speaking li...

Dragon Clan, New World book release

After a time-out to write other things, I went back and wrote the beginning of a new series of Dragon Clan books. The timeframe is set well after the first series, the evil Breslau have made good on their war efforts and now rule Princeton. The characters in the new series are older, more mature, the stories more complex. Of course, there are new dangers and enemies. The challenge of writing the first book of the new series was trying to balance information from the first. Going too deeply into the past will bore the readers of the first series--not providing enough information will leave new readers hanging. The references to the earlier series were reviewed and rewritten endlessly, and hopefully it all fits together. The second book of the series if far easier to write. It feels like writing about old friends. I've already had compliments and jeers for the new series, but we'll see where it goes from here.

This is my best book yet. Feedback from early readers has confirmed my opinion. The book is finally for sale or available from Kindle Unlimited. Despite the angry cover, as usual, there is humor, a few chuckles, and insights. The following link should take you there. Speaking of early readers, I can always use another pair of eyes to look at the manuscripts and help find errors.
