Almost done with The Last Dragon Book Two

Book two has presented unique problems. I do not think the reader should foresee what comes next, and yet should not be fooled or tricked in any way. I also hate books that are like a thousand others. When I drift into familiar territory--well, things must change. The scope of the book must expand if it is a series. Rewriting the same story as book one is not fair to the readers.      Taking all of that into account is hard. The second book must be better than the first in many ways. It must also answer part of the open questions raised in book one, which means I have to go back and reread the last book to find those things--which also means I find things I want to change in book one so they lead better into book two.      In short, I need to be in the minds of the characters, and out of my mind. People have said that about me for years.
